Biography

DeQian Wang came to OSU with a BS in Agricultural Engineering from Shenyang Agricultural University in China (1977). After leaving OSU, he joined Cryopharm in Pasadena, California to work on cryptopreservation of biological and biotech products. In 1994, he joined Bayer Corporation's Pharmaceutical Division-Biotechnology, in Berkeley, California, and advanced rapidly from a Production Engineer to his present position as Associate Director in Process Sciences. He has received the Bayer Presidential Achievement Award three times.

He is recognized as a leader in the fields of freezing, freeze-drying, and other technologies relevant to finishing biopharmaceutical products. Wang is an adjunct professor in the Department of Industrial and Physical Pharmacy at Purdue University, and serves on NSF's advisory board for the University-Industry Cooperative Research Center for Pharmaceutical Processing. He is also a member of OSU's Bioengineering Advisory Board.
